A couple in the US have been filmed in a restaurant eating a meal through their face masks in an unsettling viral video - but all may not be as it seems.
The video was originally posted to TikTok on the weekend by user Gray (@boiohboii) and has now been viewed more than three million times on the platform.
"Dinner date, but make it safe," he wrote, tagging Carrabba's Italian Grill.
The video was re-shared by a number of users on Twitter.
"Thanks I hate it," wrote Human Events editor Ian Miles Cheong.
But going by the user's other recent videos, the couple appear to be his parents – so it's likely the mask stunt was a prank for TikTok views.
We can only hope.
The video comes after Paris Hilton set the standard for pointless face masks amid the coronavirus pandemic.
The businesswoman, 39, donned a diamanté mesh face mask as she stepped out to dinner with her boyfriend Carter Reum and friends in Los Angeles earlier this month.
It's likely the mesh mask would do little to protect Hilton from coronavirus which has ravaged California with more than 223,000 confirmed cases and more than 5900 deaths.
Meanwhile, another man from North Carolina in the US snapped a photo of a display station of cloth masks in Target after noticing an incredulous detail in the set-up, and posted it to Facebook.
"Target put out a mirror so you can try on different masks before choosing the one you want," he wrote.
"Think about it for a minute... Now I will assume that this was a rack being repurposed, but still."
Users were quick to comment on the move, with one labelling it: "that's got to be the dumbest thing I ever heard of".
