An 11-year-old golden retriever named Charlie, who lost his eyesight to glaucoma, has received his own 'seeing-eye puppy' to guide and support him.
Maverick is a 4-month-old pup that the family adopted to provide companionship for Charlie.
The two dogs, from North Carolina, US, have now become social media sensations.
Owners Chelsea and Adam Stipe adopted Maverick on New Year's Day this year and say Charlie didn't take very long to befriend his "seeing-eye puppy".
"They're both pretty crazy and special. They're definitely our entertainment," Chelsea told NBC.
Maverick also quickly learnt to adjust to Charlie's challenges and has adapted his own routines to match his blind companion's pace.
"When they would play, Maverick would realise that Charlie would lose the toy sometimes, so (Maverick) would pick it up and put it back in front of him to re-engage playtime," Chelsea says.
"They almost turn into little sled dogs where they'll walk together, (too)."
The dogs made their Instagram debut earlier this week with the joint account @charlieandmav, which you should follow immediately.
They have already accumulated more than 83,000 followers.
