ASOS is not afraid to push the boundaries when it comes to fashion, but this latest creation might be a step too far for even the most style-savvy shoppers.
The UK-based online retailer has unveiled an ultra-cropped white t-shirt for men that is barely long enough to cover the wearer's nipples.
The design has left shoppers baffled, with one Facebook user comparing it to a woman's "sports bra", reports the Daily Mail.
The $22 "Reclaimed Vintage" inspired extreme cropped vest comes in sizes medium or large and promises to be perfect for when "less is more".
The online post shows the male model wearing the barely-there jersey garment with black skater jeans, white sports socks and a pair of Vans Old Skool trainers.
The 80s look is finished off with a pair of small circular sunglasses.
But customers were not convinced by the bold fashion trend. One wrote on Facebook: "Just looks like a sports bra. If i see any man wearing this I'll be in shock!"
Another joked: "I would look like a breast feeding ox in this!"
A third tweeted: "ASOS are having a laugh surely. That's no a crop top, that's the rejected sweat shop vests. I can't even."
However others claimed they would don the top "if they had a six pack", while others argued it would make for a fun summer holiday look.
Some also pointed out that male crop tops were already popular on the club and festival circuits.
ASOS recently won praise from customers after it posted unedited images of a plus-size model on its website.
The image shows the model wearing an open back Missguided dress that reveals the rolls on her back.
It has been praised by plus size blogger Callie Thorpe, who tweeted that it shows bigger women that their "bodies are normal".
Hoards of other Twitter users have been sharing the image, with many branding the model "gorgeous".
Despite the criticism, it appears plenty of people are fans: As of lunchtime today, the crop top is sold out.
