1. Hugo's Bistro
From the couple behind Odettes Eatery, Clare and Joost Van Den Berg, comes another stlish inner-city stylish dining option. Start your day with the eggs on oatmeal sourdough or opt for the more substantial fresh pasta with sirloin when lunch or dinner time rolls around. Either way, a glass of something from their extensive wine list encompassing both European and local vintages, is a must.

These guys have been selling out in seconds since arriving on the sandwich scene last weekend. And why wouldn’t they, when you can lunch with Rita (roasted cauliflower, herbed feta, vinaigrette and watercress) or Ralph (gochujang chicken, pickled ginger, cucumber raita, red cabbage and jalapeno;pictured) and many more, in a sub-style sandwich of epic proportions. The Don (a grilled cheese with truffle) is already a winter go-to.

This South Pacific-inspired bar and eatery is the place to go for a brunch of smoked kahawai on toast, a lunch of scampi and prawn spaghetti or a dinner of coal-roasted lamb shoulder… just be sure to leave room to work your way through their signature 'tropical' gin cocktails; made all the better when enjoyed to the sounds of live soul and funk.

5. The Nightingale
We have three words for you, key lime pie. If ever there was a pop-up sent to get us through the dreary days of winter, this is it. With a convivial space spread over two levels perched on the water's edge,a broad lineup of live entertainment, a good range of craft beers and a slew of gourmet comfort foods (from the aforementioned pie, fried shrimp and oyster hoagies to bone marrow brulee and truffle mac 'n' cheese), here, you're not alone if a 'quiet' one turns into something more.

Come June 8, the space will transform into an al fresco cocktail bar after the sun goes down.
