Celebrity cook and new mum Nadia Lim is nursing more than her baby after a freak kitchen mishap saw her chop off the tip of a finger.
Ms Lim has revealed details of the ghastly accident which saw a small piece of her left index finger accidentally sliced off as she prepared lunch yesterday.
But quick thinking may have spared any permanent disfigurement with the popular chef scooping up the tip and putting it on ice before seeking first aid.
In a graphic Facebook post the My Food Bag creator showed the aftermath of the bloody finger, wrapped in a thick gauze bandage.
"So, this afternoon I ended up slicing the top of my finger off and had to go to A and E to get the chopped off piece put back on!
"Lucky I saved my piece of finger (in a little plastic bag, in a chiller bag). Must have been overexcited about Bargain Box NZ launching today when I was making lunch!"
In a post she said the incident happened when she was slicing bread.
"I was cutting bread...don't ask me how I did it!" she told one of the hundreds of well-wishers who flooded her Facebook Page with accounts of trauma in the kitchen.
She described the chopped segment as looking like a baked bean.
And while despairing at the thought nappy changes, she thanked everyone for their support.
