As Richie McCaw announces his engagement to Black Sticks star Gemma Flynn, the speculation begins around what the bride-to-be will wear and who will land the honour of designing her dress.

Former sporting brides have enlisted the talent of Auckland bridal gown designer Jane Yeh, who has dressed the likes of All Black wives Casey Williams and Amy Kahui as well as top female athletes Casey Kopua, Kayla Sharland and Temepara Baily.

Flynn's Instagram feed shows a favouring of shoestring straps lately, a style she may turn to again when deciding on the cut of her wedding dress.

At last year's Halberg awards, the hockey player stunned in a white lace floor length gown that showed off svelte figure and athletic shoulders. Perhaps she'll look to rework the flattering features of this dress for her big day.
