This cafe is light, fresh and fabulous and makes us feel the same. As the name suggests, none of the food is cooked. But it's all delicious. We tried the handmade sprouted bread - sprouted buckwheat, flax and coconut cooked at low temperatures, topped with creamy balsamic mushrooms and walnut and kale pesto. Our insides glowed with good health. The coffee is fair trade, organic, filtered.

2. Wise Cicada
It's not only the food that will make you feel good here - the friendly, upbeat vibe will too. A new plant-based breakfast menu includes one of our favourites - soaked bircher muesli with homemade coconut yoghurt and berry compote. Divine. There is a lunch menu offering hot dishes and a salad bar too. And of course some healthy treats including raw, gluten-free, sugar-free, dairy-free, egg-free cakes and slices.

3. Cosset
This cute and cosy Mt Albert cafe - with an eclectic mix of antique and retro furniture - prides itself on offering fairtrade and organic fare. It's also doesn't use animal products so the food is meat, egg and dairy-free (although they do use organic dairy milk for coffee). All of this might sound a bit restrictive but we assure you the food is topnotch. We're big fans of the hotcakes and only wish we lived closer.
