Cronulla's new prop Aaron Woods, named to face the Warriors on Friday night, trained with two NRL teams on the same day.
The Sharks' recruit has become a prime contender for any list of NRL bad buys, after his four year deal with Canterbury-Bankstown came to a shuddering halt on Tuesday.
He had joined the Bulldogs this year on a four season deal from the Wests Tiger, but has failed to fire, lost his representative spot, and departed with the June 30 transfer deadline looming.
Woods found out the move was confirmed via the internet.
"We were training this morning and I got off the field and they (Canterbury staff) said go and check your phone,'' Woods said.
"It is what it is. Canterbury have been awesome. It was a really good change and everyone knows what's going on there at the moment, they're in a bit of salary cap problem."
Woods bolsters a Cronulla side loaded with veterans, after the madcap switch.
"Long day," news.com.au reported 15-test prop Woods as saying.
"I was training this morning with the other boys and now with the new boys.
"This has happened all last minute. Obviously there was dealings behind the scenes but I only found out this morning after training with the Bulldogs boys.
"That's rugby league isn't it... rugby league is like a roller coaster journey."
Sharks coach Shane Flanagan was confident of restoring Woods to top form in the tough Sharks pack which features Paul Gallen, Andrew Fifita, Wade Graham, Luke Lewis and State of Origin newcomer Matt Prior.
Graham and Lewis won't play this Friday because of injury, while Woods — who took a pay cut in the move — is named on the bench.
The Warriors are still evaluating the state of their international players including the trio of Kiwi internationals who played in Denver.
