Waikanae New World owner Richmond Lee had some great news when he telephoned Clinton Gibson.
The message was simple: Clinton was the proud new owner of a Holden LS Spark 1.4L automatic car.
A total of 138 New World stores across New Zealand each had a car to give away, which totalled over $2 million worth of cars.
During the three week campaign, billed as New World's "our greatest car giveaway ever", over two million entries went into the prize draw.
Customers received one entry into the draw with every $50 in store and swiped their Fly Buys or Airpoints card.
Clinton was the lucky Waikanae New World winner.
He picked up the keys to the new car on Thursday accompanied by wife Rebecca and their two children Zachary, 4, and Nico, 2.
Interestingly, Zachary had seen the car, with balloons on, during the promotion and had commented "Oh look Mum that car is having a party".
"I told him it was a competition," Rebecca said, "and he said 'it would be great if we won it".
Clinton said he was elated and a bit shocked with the win "because we didn't realise we were in the draw [which had automatic entry with the swipe of the card]."
"Zachary was probably the most excited of all of us."
As well as the car itself, which is worth about $17,990, the prize included current registration, current warrant of fitness, a full tank of fuel, three year or 100,000km warrant from Holden NZ and three year unlimited kilometre roadside assistance from Holden NZ.
Clinton said the family would use the car especially as their second car, a 1998 Nissan Pulsar needed replacing.
"We're so grateful to New World."
Mr Lee encouraged people to swipe their Fly Buys or Airpoints card when shopping because as well as points accumulation, there was often various prize draws on offer.
He also said New World was launching a special New World loyalty card next month which would have Fly Buys or Airpoints on it as well as enable people to take advantage of instore offers plus another sensational prize draw to enter.
