The Central Federation women's soccer team continued their table-topping performance of Monday, beating Mainland 2-1 in Christchurch.
After four rounds of the women's national soccer league, the side has cemented their spot at the top of the table after two wins during their Labour Weekend double header in the South Island.
After the team's comfortable 5-2 win over Southern on the Saturday, coach Bob Sova said they had to work a little bit harder to beat Mainland.
"It was a bit of a battle," Sova said. "They scored first after about five minutes and then we equalised after half an hour. Five minutes after halftime we scored again and the chances starting falling our way and to be honest we could have had a few more."
Sova said this weekend's bye was unfortunate. "It's a bit of a nightmare, but it does give us a chance to fix up one or two injured players. "We took 16 players to cover for that, so from that point of view I'm happy to have come away from there with six points."
