An algae build-up in Woodville's impound water supply has raised complaints from residents about the nasty smell and taste of drinking water.
"The algae is just through problems with temperature, but we are trying to get on top of that," Tararua District Council utilities manager Dave Watson said.
"We have been trying to take water direct from the river and not the impound but residents are still complaining of an odd smell and taste."
As a temporary solution to the problem Tararua District Council brought in a 750-litre tanker of fresh water from Dannevirke, which is parked by the Recreational grounds on Vogal Street so residents can gather fresh water as they need.
