'TIS THE SEASON: Nelly Jull Park will be home to all things Christmas at the Twilight Carols in Waipawa next Sunday.
Tonight's twilight carol's in Central Hawke's Bay have been postponed due to the weather.
Instead, the carols will take place at Nelly Jull Park behind the Waipawa Town Clock next Sunday - December 13.
The CHB Mail and Waipawa M&D have teamed up to present this year's carols.
Next Sunday, people can join in the festive evening of song, entertainment and fun, starting at 5.30pm with decorating the tree beside the children's playground. The event is hosted by Martin & Sarah from The Hits.
Adults and children are all encouraged to make and bring along handcrafted Christmas decorations. Anything goes: cardboard and glitter, tinsel and felt pens, crepe paper and craft items. The CHB Mail team will hang the decorations. The community's challenge is to "make the tree sparkle".
To add to the festivities, there will be an interactive nativity scene complete with animals, a display of vehicles from the CHB Vintage Car Club, dance demonstrations and a sausage sizzle, coffee cart and special guest appearance by the Napier Pipe Band. Of course it wouldn't be Christmas without a visit from Santa himself. The jolly gentleman has promised he will call in during the evening.
Twilight Carols supports the CHB Food Bank. Entry is free but a gold-coin donation or non-perishable food item to donate to the foodbank will be appreciated.
