Drivers are being warned to stick to speed restrictions while parts of State Highway 50 are being widened.
The major widening project will mean parts of the road will be unsealed and motorists are advised to strictly adhere to the signposted speed restrictions.
The work is taking place near Kereruand Whakapirau Rds.
The road is one of eight across the Hawke's Bay highway network where temporary speed restrictions may slow travel times by up to five minutes.
SH2 north of Napier is being repaired between Tutira and Tangoio and around the Morere Hill. Meanwhile, road marking is being done between Bay View and Wairoa and power poles are being replaced between Nuhaka and Tahaenui.
On SH2 south, strengthening work is continuing on the Tuki Tuki River Bridge at Waipukurau and traffic lights and temporary speed restrictions are in place, delaying traffic.
Surface repair work is also being carried out around Takapau.
Speed restrictions are also in place, and will be for some time, at the Pakowhai Links intersection where the SH50/Expressway is operating as a temporary roundabout.
