Rain causes slips on SH5

Recent belts of rain have resulted in some minor slips across the SH5 stretch between Napier and Taupo.

Motorists are being advised there could be some minor delays as contractors carry out roadside clean-ups in the wake of the slips. The work is being carried out between Eskdale and te Pohue.

Drainage maintenance work is also being carried on the highway around Titiokura, expect minor delays.

Slight delays can also be expected on SH2 north around Bay View.

Contractors are carrying out several road maintenance jobs on the stretch including widening and sealing a 300m stretch near the township.

On SH2 south between Napier and Dannevirke there are culvert repairs between Otane and Waipawa.

Meanwhile, the New Zealand Transport Agency is continuing to ask motorists on the SH50 expressway stretch between Kennedy Rd and Meeanee to drive with caution an patience as seal widening and guard rail work is being carried out.

The work is scheduled to be completed by June 1, and until then temporary speed limits are likely at times.

In central Napier work on the stormwater upgrade is continuing with motorists reminded that detours are in place. Heavy traffic has been advised to use the expressway or George's Drive to access the Napier Port from the south.
