Prisoner escapes custody at hospital

Police are hunting an inmate who escaped from Hawke's Bay Hospital at the weekend.

At 7.15pm yesterday, remand prisoner Dion King escaped from Corrections custody whilst at the Emergency Department of the hospital.

Police have made area inquiries and conducted several patrols at cordon points looking for Mr King but have been unable to locate him.

Mr King would have been noticeable when he left the hospital as he was handcuffed at the time.

Police do not believe there is any risk to the public.
