Roger Moroney
It was a special treat for Mary Doyle Rest Home resident Emily Stevenson yesterday when her son called to see her.
But what made it extra special was that Roger Stevenson took some young companions along with him during his visit to the Havelock North home.
They were members of the Wellington Youth Choir.
Mr Stevenson, a former head of Havelock North High School's music department has been the musical director of the Wellington Youth Choir since 2001 and conducted them during yesterday's concert for his mum and her rest home companions.
Accompanied by pianist Laurel Hungerford, the choir will perform a concert "Around the World in 80 Minutes" .
in Napier tonight at 7.30 at St John's Cathedral, and tomorrow at 2.30pm at St Columba's Church, Havelock North.
Mr Stevenson and the choir also staged a workshop with Hawke's Bay secondary school choirs.
