Hurt jockey recognises her family

Rookie Hastings jockey Katie Bothamley is out of a coma and has recognised members of her family keeping a vigil beside her Wellington Hospital bed.
Seventeen year-old Katie was admitted to hospital after falling from her horse in Wanganui last week.
Her brother Daniel Bothamley said she woke up yesterday and family members had explained why she was in hospital. She could only nod in answer to questions. She still has a tube in her throat after a tracheoctomy earlier in the week.
"She's on the improve. That's great news - the best we have had for the week," Daniel said.
