A woman charged with digging up the remains of her son in a Hastings cemetery has been identified after the lapsing of an interim name suppression order in the Napier District Court yesterday.
The order lapsed after Lynette Robyn Hyde, of Napier, appeared before a registrar and on the application of counsel, Scott Jefferson, was remanded on bail to appear for pre-depositions proceedings on March 8.
Police allege she dug up the grave at Mangaroa on Christmas Day, and removed an urn which had been in place more than 10 years.
The interference with the grave was discovered by her ex-husband and reported to police who found the urn at the accused's home, a police summary says.
