It's time to get out your bikini and put your best foot forward. The annual Miss Waimarama competition takes place tomorrow.
The competition has been part of the popular beach day since the early 1990s. Dozens of hopefuls will put on their best bikinis in the hope of winning theprestigious title.
Nicolette Owen said she intended to enter and was looking forward to the experience.
She said the confidence-building and recognition involved in taking part had encouraged girls such as herself for years to try for the crown.
Miss Owen had grown up watching older friends enter the competition.
