It will be good weather for kite fliers this week, with gale-force winds expected to arrive.
After a warm day yesterday, with temperatures in the high-teens, MetService meteorologist Claire Flynn said Hawke's Bay can expect cooler and winder conditions from tomorrow.
"Today we still have some high cloud around, and there is a bit of rain around further east but there will be just a chance of a shower.
"Later this week, we are looking at showers developing from Tuesday and we will be getting some westerlies coming in, they will be strong as well - possibly gales. Then on Wednesday we will have a few showers up the coast but they should be clearing as the day goes on."
The strong southwesterly wind will start off strong but would gradually ease throughout the day.
"Then on Thursday, there is just an odd shower left around and light southwesterlies and again on Friday. So essentially, today won't be so bad but then we have some changeable weather coming through for the early part of the week and then improving again later in the week."
Temperatures were expected to reach a high of 15C today before cooling off on Tuesday, with the strong westerlies pushing temperatures down to a high of just 12C.
"Wednesday and Thursday are both looking at around 14C. So, the average daytime high temperature in June for Hawke's Bay is 14.4C so it's pretty average."
The MetService's 10-day forecast also show it will be even colder south of Hastings, with temperature in Dannevirke expected to reachjust 7C on Tuesday, with temperature for the rest of the week only expected to reach a high of 10C.
