A male is in a stable condition at Hawke's Bay Hospital following a single-vehicle crash south of Waipukurau yesterday afternoon.
Emergency services were called to the scene on Hatuma Rd, between Waiou Rd and JG Wilson Dr, at 1.55pm.
It is understood the car crashed into a tree, injuring two occupants of the vehicle.
The Lowe Corporation Rescue Helicopter and the Palmerston North Rescue Helicopter were co-responded to the scene.
A Lowe Corporation Rescue Helicopter spokesman said a teenage girl with minor injuries was first extracted from the vehicle and flown by the Palmerston North Rescue Helicopter to Hawke's Bay Hospital.
"A male patient, in his 50's, was freed from the vehicle by Fire & Emergency Services, then flown to Hawke's Bay Hospital in the Lowe Corporation Rescue Helicopter.
"The male patient has multiple injuries of a serious nature," he said.
A Hawke's Bay District Health Board spokeswoman said the female teenager had been discharged.
