A Hastings family have been reunited with their two labradors, after they went missing on Friday.
Owner John Roil said he received a call this morning from a member of the public who had spotted them by their orchard on York Rd - not far from their property on Maraekakaho Rd.
They have had 10-year-old Bailey since she was a pup. The Roils' son, Mark Roil, has had 3-year-old Peanut since she was little.
"We are very pleased to have them home."
Despite being found close to their home, he believes they travelled a fair distance over the three days.
"The pads on their feet are worn off. They can hardly walk at the moment," Mr Roil said.
Another member of the public had informed the happy owner that she had seen his dogs sitting on a kerb on Pakowhai Rd but could not remember which day.
"I'm unsure whether somebody took them there. I couldn't imagine them walking all the way over there but dogs can't talk, so we will never know."
The two dogs normally went hunting for rabbits in the orchards on their property on Maraekakaho Rd, Hastings, and would always come home by night time.
