Surface repair work and drain clearing will mean some travel delays across Hawke's Bay's highway network over the next week.

On State Highway 2 north of Napier repair crews are at work on sites between Wairoa and Waikare with temporary speed restrictions and stop-go signalling in place.

There could be delays up to five minutes.

The same restrictions and safety procedures are also in place on SH2 south around the Waipawa district, while contractors are at work at several sites between Bay View and Tarawera on SH5 between Napier and Taupo.

Some delays can be expected.

On SH38 between Wairoa and Lake Waikaremoana drain clearing work is being carried out at sites around Mangapapa and Frasertown with speed restrictions and stop-go signalling in place.

Slight delays in travel are likely.

At the region's two major roading upgrades, the Whakatu arterial roundabout and the Watchman Rd/Expressway roundabout, delays would be "negligible", a New Zealand Transport Agency spokesperson said.
