Celebrity cook and former Food in a Minute host Allyson Gofton will be back in Hawke's Bay later this month making a guest appearance at the annual Waihua Christmas Fete, in the grounds of the historic Waihua Homestead.
The fete will be held on November 26, with Gofton hosting demonstrations throughout the day in the homestead kitchen. Bookings will be available for four different time slots during the programme, which starts at 10am and ends at 3pm.
Gofton has been cooking for New Zealanders for nearly 30 years and was the popular face of television's Food in a Minute.
She has gone on to write several cookbooks and travels regularly throughout the country hosting charity demonstrations and public speaking engagements, as well as living in France, from where she has derived some of her inspiration.
Fete organiser Rose Haynes said organisers were thrilled to be hosting a cook of Gofton's calibre at the 2017 event.
She is well known for her clear, straightforward recipes, and she would undoubtedly appeal to a wide range of fete-goers.
"This year, there will once again be an extensive variety of stallholders offering a superb array of artisan and boutique clothing, homewares, gifts, foods and beverages," said Ms Haynes.
"Having someone as high profile as Allyson join us, who is also so personable and down to earth, is a natural fit for the fete. We have no doubt that the edition of cooking demonstrations will be incredibly popular and the food produced will be delicious."
Demonstrations will be held at 11am, 12 noon, 1pm and 2pm, with pre-booking essential for the 20 spaces available at each time slot.
The cost is $10 per person and bookings can be made by emailing waihua.station@gmail.com.
The Waihua Christmas Fete has a gate entry cost of $10 per person. Children under 12 are free, all proceeds going to Starship Children's Hospital.
