A man was left with moderate to minor injuries after jumping from a moving truck before it crashed into a steep bank and rolled on the Napier/Taihape Rd about 11.30am yesterday.
A police spokesperson said the truck rolled in the Nga Mahanga area about 1km towards Hawke's Bay from the Kuripapango bridge.
The Lowe Corporation Rescue Helicopter responded to the incident and reported the driver, a male in his 50s, had jumped from the vehicle before the truck hit a steep bank and rolled.
The driver sustained multiple injuries but was flown to the Hawke's Bay Hospital in a stable condition.
One lane was block by the crash wreckage before the vehicle was towed from the scene and the site was cleared by roading contractors.
It was reported the Taihape Volunteer Fire Brigade were among the emergency services that attended the scene, although both Chief Fire Officer Alan Troon and Deputy Chief Fire Officer Darren Meadows did not attend the call out.
