Nominations are coming in thick and fast for deserving individuals.
The newly established Tremains Community Trust has been set up to financially aid local individuals who are in need of a helping hand.
In just nine days, nominations close for the worthy cause, founded by Tremains Real Estate.
Director of Tremains Real Estate, Simon Tremain said the company created the trust as a way of giving back to Hawke's Bay.
After sitting down with the panel, which includes two members of the Tremains staff, as well as Henare O'Keefe, Tracee Te Huia and Hayley Tawhiti, they decided to split half of the available funds towards health related applications and half towards hardship.
"We are fortunate to have an experienced panel to help us assess applications and make the hard decisions of how to allocate the funds. We are looking forward to touching base with the successful recipients just before Christmas and give them a bit of a boost before the holiday period," Mr Tremain said.
Funds for the trust were raised in November, from a charity auction, which saw 27 artists donate a range of work, raising about $10,000 to divide among the successful recipients.
"The Tremains Annual Charity Art Auction received an overwhelming amount of support from local businesses based on the concept of the trust, now we are looking forward to seeing the nominations coming in and distributing the grants," Mr Tremain said.
Nominations can be for a range of purposes, whether is it some respite from caring for a family member, a donation for desperately needed essentials or even a weekend away for someone who has been suffering ill health.
Mr Tremain said applications are through nomination, in order to encourage people to put forward the names of those who might not have otherwise put their hand up for help.
Applications to the Trust close on the 19th December and nomination forms can be picked up from any Tremains office or downloaded from their website www.tremains.co.nz/events/tremains-community-trust.
