Napier City Council Deputy Mayor Faye White is pleased to be re-elected following the preliminary results out this afternoon.

"I am relieved to be back on. One has felt a long campaign and it has not been the easiest this time round," Ms White said.

While she had been re-elected, the councillor was not expecting anything else at the moment.

Mayor Bill Dalton would announce his deputy at a later time.

"I believe that I worked really hard and did a good job."

She said she was surprised by some of the results regarding other councillors.

"I am disappointed we lost some good council members. It is sad to see colleagues go."

Ms White said a good cohesive council would bring the best results.

"We will look at revitalising CBD and making it a vibrant and exciting city that attracts people and brings economic success."
