A man facing more than 50 charges since police uncovered more than $100,000 worth of suspected stolen property is expected to face more charges when he appears again in court later this month.
Peter John James Gray, 42, has been in custody since his arrest on August 25.
He appeared in Hastings District Court the next day facing seven charges.
Gray was further remanded in custody without pleas when he appeared on a total of 54 charges before Judge Tony Adeane in the court again today.
He faces 46 charges of receiving stolen property, one each of burglary, theft, unlawfully taking a motor vehicle, unlawful possession of a firearm, unlawfully carrying ammunition, possession of utensils for the use of methamphetamine, and two of driving while suspended.
The value of property relating to the charges in court was about $124,000, mainly tools, machinery, appliances and building and furnishing materials from construction sites, but also including a quad bike.
Police have been working to identify more owners for items that were discovered on a residential section west of Hastings three weeks ago
Police are expecting to lay more charges of burglary.
No application was made for bail today. The man is due in court again on September 27.
