The NZ Transport Agency is advising motorists to take care and be aware of continuing winter conditions on many of the state highways around the central and lower North Island.
State Highway 5 Napier to Taupo remains closed until further notice, while the Desert Road is now open.
Road users are also advised to take extra care due to flooding on roads between Tutira and Wairoa, while ice was a risk to drivers in areas between Napier and Tutira.
In general, road users are advised to take extra care and drive to the conditions. As weather and road conditions can change rapidly, people were advised to check the latest weather and road updates before they get on the road.
