A fugitive who sparked an armed offenders squad has appeared at Hastings District Court today.

Ihaka Hamuera Arapeta Paul faces four charges of which the details are suppressed at the request of his lawyer Matthew Phelps until his next appearance in March.

Paul gave himself up last night and was arrested and taken into custody after being cornered by AOS members in Frasertown, a small town in Wairoa.

Paul had been on the run in Hawke's Bay for 13 days when he was finally apprehended.

There were family members in the public gallery supporting him.
