Hawke's Bay Police have arrested an 18-year-old Hastings man in connection with the alleged rape of a 14-year-old girl in Flaxmere in March this year.
It is alleged that the male followed the victim into the Flaxmere skatebowl area in the early hours of 11 March where he dragged her to the ground and sexually violated her.
Investigators made the arrest after receiving new evidence that lead to his identification., police said.
Police would like to thank members of the public that came forward with information throughout the enquiry.
Police said the male is due to appear in the Hastings District Court on Wednesday. "No further comment can be made about the case as it is now before the courts."
