The Hawke's Bay Farmers' Market (pictured) is a finalist for this year's Taste Awards.
The market is one of 10 finalists for Farmers Market of the Year 2011 and its competition includes Christchurch, Tauranga and Marlborough Farmers' Markets.
The Bay market was the first in New Zealand, established in 2000.
Food Hawke's Bay general manager Jane Libby said it was also one of the biggest, with up to 70 stalls in the summer.
"It was all online voting so it's great recognition for the region."
The market's email list had been contacted and posters on site reminded people to vote. Winners will be announced at the Taste Awards Dinner on July 3 at Muddy Water Winery in Waipara, Canterbury.
Hawke's Bay Farmers' Market committee chairman Mark Verry would attend the awards as part of the Farmers' Market New Zealand annual conference.
