Police attending a crash on Shakespeare Rd in Napier on Friday afternoon were in the right spot to deal with a second crash which happened just 40m away from them.
Police were called to a straight downhill stretch of the road about 12.30pm after a collision between a car travelling downhill, and a utility vehicle exiting a driveway.
One officer said it appeared the driver of the car had pulled out and around a stationary dump truck.
The utility, obscured by the truck, was coming out of a driveway.
The impact caused the utility to strike a parked vehicle.
One of the drivers was taken to Hawke's Bay Hospital with minor injuries and another to a nearby medical centre.
About 10 minutes later, while officers were dealing with the scene, a truck waiting to get past clipped a parked car, punching a hole in the rear door and window.
