Neither Kerrin nor Genevieve Revell has been affected by cancer but they know the pressures healthy teens have to deal with, let alone teens with cancer.
The Auckland pair have been on the road, riding horseback for the past four months, on a mission to raise money for CanTeen, the teen cancer foundation.
Their aim is to get around the entire country in a year with help from their three horses, Xena, Falkor and Tane. The couple touched down in Hawke's Bay on Monday, set up camp at the Riding for the Disabled site in Meeanee and raised funds in the streets of Napier yesterday.
"Travelling the country on horseback has always been a dream of Gen's but no one was crazy enough to do it until I came along," Kerrin said with a laugh.
"It's been an amazing trip so far, though, and the support has been overwhelming."
They have raised $12,000 so far but fundraising may slow a bit today and tomorrow as many businesses in Hastings will not allow them to raise funds out front due to other charitable loyalties.
So, unless their luck changes, donors will have to keep an eye out for the horses and flag them down.
