The search is on again for the great, two legged, unassuming conservationist, endemic to Hawke's Bay. Nominations are being sought for the 9th annual Norsewear conservation awards.
"I keep hearing and seeing the great work being accomplished by ordinary people in extraordinary ways, so there is no chance them becoming extinct any time soon," said Department of Conservation spokesperso/n Barbara Curtis. "But their work is something that should not be taken for granted. The Norsewear conservation awards are a chance for us to recognise their efforts".
The awards are presented to individuals or groups who make a significant contribution to protecting native biodiversity or historic sites within Hawkes Bay. There are three categories: Natural heritage, historic heritage and the Catherine Tiffen award for volunteers. Forms are available from the DOC office on Marine Parade. Closing date is June 30, 2007.
