Hundreds of people were left without power yesterday afternoon for about 45 minutes.
Unison relationship manager Danny Gough said the incident at 2.48pm initially affected about 975 customers.
It was believed to be caused by a cable fault in part of the underground network.
Gough said at the time, that they were "sectionalising" the power, by using other parts of the network to supply customers.
By doing so, they had reduced the number of those affected to 569 customers just after 3pm.
The outage was around the Latham St area, towards Napier South.
National Aquarium of New Zealand and Laserforce Napier were also left in the dark.
Laserforce Napier acting manager Will Jessares said they had to turn away 10 people waiting to go inside and a further 25 people already playing games.
"It is unfortunate, but the power came back soon after and we managed to get everything back up and running."
