“This is my first time directing for MTG and I’m absolutely loving it. It’s a lovely cast and it’s a well organised and supportive atmosphere, not just in terms of the cast dynamics but also in terms of the crew and overall organisation.”
The show has become an international phenomenon with thousands of productions around the world.
Nunsense starts with tragedy, she said.
The story begins with five Little Sisters of Hoboken, who decide to put on a variety show. They have discovered that their cook, Sister Julia, Child of God, has accidentally poisoned 52 of the sisters and they are in desperate need of money for the burials. So, with much hilarity, putting on a show is what they decide to do.
With a cast of five fabulous nuns, this fast-paced comedy brings singing, dancing, an audience quiz and comic surprises.
“I kind of feel like this is something that would happen in Gisborne, not lots of nuns dying, but in terms of the community coming together to support a cause,” Papazoglou said.
“It’s lovely to invite the audience in and be a part of an immersive experience.
“If and when you come to the show, make sure you are ready to play. This production involves a lot of audience interaction. You will not be dragged up on stage but this is a ‘we are all in this together’ sort of show. Bring your warm hearts and sense of humour,” Papazoglou said.
MTG is located at 99 Innes Street. It has had an internal refurbishment and is looking fabulous and ready to host people for an evening of hilarious musical comedy.
The bar will be open, snacks are available, with complimentary tea and coffee at interval.
