New Zealand may still be winners at the World Cup after all.
According to the TAB, this year's World Cup will rank among the top five sporting events in the organisation's history, which is good news for New Zealand Football who will receive a percentage of all of the bets made during the tournament.
One per cent of TAB's total turnover and four per cent of profits from bets made during the World Cup will go straight to NZ Football, the TAB confirmed.
The total amount that NZ Football will receive will not be known until the end of the tournament, but the financial windfall could be significant.
At the last World Cup in 2014 for example, the footballing body took home $560,000, and they will surely be hoping for big bets to come in before Monday's final between France and Croatia.
One significant bet still outstanding is a $55,000 punt on 'Will one of the eight nations who have won the World Cup previously, win the 2018 tournament?'. The bet is still live and it's down to France. The bet was only paying $1.27 but could lead to an almost $15,000 profit for the punter.
Here are some of the biggest wins at the TAB from the World Cup to date.
