Do you know your macadamia butter from your peanut? Could you spot an organic avo a mile away? Do you prefer your coffee out of a discarded vegetable instead of a cup?
If all of these apply to you, you may have just reached peak millennial status.
While it may be easy to brush off millennial food fads as nonsense, it turns out some of these food trends could actually help us slim down.
Researchers at the University of Georgia found that the trendiest foods of 2017 are rich in polyunsaturated fats, which can influence our hormones and suppress hunger.
Foods such as quinoa, chia seeds, avocados and chickpeas can all contribute to your weight loss efforts.
Participants in the study had their hormone levels measured to check for hunger and fullness after consuming foods heavy in polyunsaturated fats.
Subjects were then asked to indicate how much they thought they could eat, or how hungry they still were.
The study found those who consumed more polyunsaturated fats were less hungry and felt fuller for longer.
"Appetite hormones play an important role in regulating how much we eat," Jamie A. Cooper, PhD of the University of Georgia told Metro.
"These findings tell us that eating foods rich in PUFAs [polyunsaturated fats], like those found in walnuts, may favourably change appetite hormones so that we can feel fuller for longer."
So there is no need to shy away from these Instagram-worthy foods as research shows they are actually doing you a world of good.
Now go and eat your chia pudding, chickpea mousse and avocado toast with pride.
