He's famed for unravelling cryptic clues as Sherlock, but newly married Benedict Cumberbatch may well have created one of his own by appearing to hint at the identity of his best man.
The 38-year-old actor is believed to be enjoying a low-key honeymoon with pregnant wife Sophie Hunter on the Isle of Wight following their intimate wedding reception at the island's Mottistone Manor on February 14 - Valentine's Day.
But it is the manor's curious back-story that has prompted many to believe Benedict's War Horse co-star Tom Hiddleston served as his best man on the day.
Directed by Steven Spielberg, 2011 film War Horse tells the story of Joey - a thoroughbred trained for military action and deployed to France, where it joins a flying column on cavalry charges led by Major Jamie Stewart, played by Cumberbatch.
While Sherlock co-star Martin Freeman was originally thought to be the actor's best man, obvious parallels suggest it could have been Hiddleston due to their War Horse connection.
Benedict and Sophie married at 12th century St. Peter & St. Paul Church, near Brighstone on the Isle of Wight prior to their lavish reception at the manor on Saturday afternoon.
But rather that setting off for a sunny location, Benedict and theatre director Sophie are thought to be enjoying a few additional days on the British isle before returning to work.
According to the Sun On Sunday the couple are believed to have chosen Frank Sinatra hit My Funny Valentine as one of their wedding songs shortly after exchanging vows.
They later emerged from the church before driving to Mottistone Manor in a vintage grey Jaguar.
A source later told the publication: "The church is not that big... I would say maybe 100 people maximum would fit in there.
"It's a beautiful setting and very old English, very quaint and pretty."
The couple will welcome their first child together after confirming Sophie's pregnancy in January.
