Prince stunned crowds at two intimate shows in Auckland on Wednesday, but it was a tweet about shoes, not his performance that caught the singer's attention.
Stylist and blogger Sally-ann Moffat awoke to a pleasant surprise - news her music idol had re-tweeted a post about his trendy footwear at last night's 6.30pm concert.
Admiring his choice, which featured illuminated soles, she gave them a "special shout out" on social media, but never expected any sort of response.
"It's hugely exciting to be the first Kiwi re-tweet post concert," she told The Herald this morning. "Being a stylist, who had my first job in shoes, to be talking about Prince's shoes is like a whole other life skill".
Moffat reflected on the concert as one of the best she had ever seen, and noted the special relationship between performer and crowd as a highlight.
"I am have read a couple of reviews, and for me I always regretted not being part of the Purple Rain movement, I always thought of that as his peak, and I missed it," she said.
"Being at his show last night I didn't miss it, he's still peaking, he's more than a singer, he's creativity wrapped in human skin...I will never forget that as long as I live and hopefully beyond."
The international megastar jetted into Auckland on a private plane yesterday afternoon ahead of the gigs.
It's understood he got a chauffeured Audi to the Langham Hotel, before taking the stage at Auckland's ASB Theatre.
Reviews from his Piano and a Microphone tour have been nothing but positive, with social media responses from fans backing up the critics.
