Eminem has shocked fans with an unexpected appearance at the opening of his new restaurant.
In a stroke of marketing genius, the 48-year-old rapper has launched his new eatery, called Mom's Spaghetti, in his hometown of Detroit.
Listeners of Eminem's music will immediately recognise the title from the lyrics of his 2002 Oscar-winning song, Lose Yourself, in which he sings: His palms are sweaty, knees weak, arms are heavy / There's vomit on his sweater already, mom's spaghetti.
Attending Wednesday's opening and taking orders at the walk-up window, Eminem was nervous, but on the surface he looked calm and ready.
Some of the menu items at the downtown restaurant, which has limited seating, include a carton of Mom's Spaghetti, valued at $19, or a S'ghetti Sandwich for $15.
The 15-time Grammy award winner was seen posing for selfies with fans, some of whom had been lining up for hours just to get a taste of the food.
"Mom's spaghetti it's alllllll ready Detroit! Come thru Wednesday," the rapper tweeted to his 22.5 million followers earlier this week, but didn't mention he would be a surprise guest.
Journalists attending the opening said some fans had been lining up since 8am, despite the restaurant not opening until 5pm.
Eminem has also set up a retail shop above the restaurant, which sells merchandise and memorabilia.
Mom's Spaghetti was previously a pop-up in Detroit in 2017 and at the Coachella music festival in 2018.
On the music front, Eminem released his most recent album Music To Be Murdered By in January last year, which was his 11th studio album.
He recently teased a fresh collaboration with Skylar Grey, Polo G and Mozzy for the upcoming movie, Venom 2.
