Luke Perry's teenage daughter has revealed she only just made it home in time to say a final goodbye to her famous father before his tragic death.
Sophie Perry, 18, was on a six-month charity trip to Malawi but quickly jumped on a plane back to Los Angeles as soon as she heard her father had suffered a "massive" stroke last Wednesday.
The distraught teenager arrived back in time to farewell the 52-year-old Beverly Hills 90210 star before he sadly passed away, she revealed in an emotional Instagram post.
"A lot has happened in this past week for me. Everything is happening so fast. I made it back from Malawi just in time to be here with my family, and in the past 24 hours I have received an overwhelming amount of love and support," Sophie wrote alongside a sweet photo with her dad.
"I cannot individually respond to the hundreds of beautiful and heartfelt messages, but I see them, and appreciate you all for sending positivity to my family and I.
"I'm not really sure what to say or do in this situation, it's something you aren't ever given a lesson on how to handle, especially when it's all happening in the public eye. So bare (sic) with me and know that I am grateful for all the love."
The 90210 and Riverdale star died on Monday surrounded by his loved ones, his publicist confirmed.
"(Perry) was surrounded by his children Jack and Sophie, fiancee Wendy Madison Bauer, ex-wife Minnie Sharp, mother Ann Bennett, stepfather Steve Bennett, brother Tom Perry, sister Amy Coder, and other close family and friends," his rep said in a statement to Variety.
Last week, Perry was rushed to hospital after emergency services received a 911 call asking for paramedics to be sent to his Sherman Oaks, California, home.
Prior to his stroke Perry was said to be experiencing "bad back problems", which had to be surgically fixed, according to the actor's neighbour.
His last major health scare was in 2015, when precancerous growths were found in his body following a colonoscopy.
Perry shared two children with his ex-wife Minnie Sharp — Jack, 21, and Sophie, 18.
While the bulk of Sophie's social media posts are centred around her charity work, she also shared some sweet posts with her father over the past few months, including a proud throwback of Perry in a Broadway show.
Perry, born Coy Luther Perry III, became a household name playing Dylan McKay on Beverly Hills, 90210.
Perry's hospitalisation occurred on the same day that Fox announced that it would reboot the popular teen soap.
Recently, Perry had successfully resurrected his TV career with a regular role on hit comic book adaptation Riverdale, playing Fred Andrews — the conservative father of the show's lead Archie.
