Everyone's favourite local choreographer Parris Goebel could be about to add another award to her growing haul tonight.

The music video for Justin Bieber's hit song Sorry is up for Best Music Video at the American Music Awards tonight. Goebel directed, choreographed and starred in the video alongside her ReQuest and Royal Family dance crews.

The video has become an instant classic after its release last year. It is the second fastest video to hit 1 billion views on YouTube, and is the third most-viewed video on the site with over 2 billion views.

Goebel posted a photo of her ticket on Instagram, revealing that she has choreographed Ariana Grande and Nicki Minaj's performance of Side to Side, though it's unclear whether she will actually take the stage herself.

At last year's ceremony, Goebel choreographed the opening performance by host Jennifer Lopez. She also choreographed one of Rihanna's performances at this year's MTV Video Music Awards.

Goebel has become one of the world's top choreographers, with a growing list of awards to her name, including three wins at the World Hip Hop Dance Championships. Most recently, she picked up the New Generation Award from the New Zealand Arts Foundation.

She has also branched out in music, releasing dance singles Friday, Fiyah and Nasty that will be part of her upcoming album.

The American Music Awards take place at the Microsoft Theatre in Los Angeles. The show, hosted by Gigi Hadid and comedian Jay Pharoah, will kick off at 2PM New Zealand time.
