Bids for a yellow Mini for sale on TradeMe which stars in a remake of the classic Kiwi film Goodbye Pork Pie have reached nearly $25,000.
A Blondini Mini Cooper S appears in a number of key scenes in the new film, called Pork Pie, which is slotted to be launched next Waitangi weekend.
The car - which costs about $50,000 new - is listed with a reserve of $1 and has already clocked up a bid of $24,400.
Pork Pie producer Tom Hern said the vehicle has only done about 7000km and is attracting "heaps" of interest.
"We are racing the clock to get the movie completed by its premiere in the first week of February," he said. "The cash raised will go towards paying two more staff to get the film finished on time, and five per cent of the money will go to charity.
"The car is in great condition and we had other 'stunt' minis stand in for most of the action shots.
"We expect it to fetch at least what it is worth new when the auction closes at 8.30 on Sunday night."
Pork Pie stars James Rolleston, Dean O'Gorman and Ashleigh Cummings. It will feature car chases through Wellington, amazing Kiwi scenery, and more than a few laughs.
As an extra incentive, the buyer of the top-of-the-range Mini will also get a special mention on the closing credits to the film and a double pass to the premiere.
