TVNZ weather presenter Renee Wright has welcomed her third child, a baby girl, this afternoon, just five days after she was last on air.

Wright's husband Charlie Waide spread word of the new arrival to friends and family today, announcing: "Baby girl born at 1.45pm, Mum and bubs fit and well."

The little girl will join big brother Leo, age four, and sister Giselle, age two.

Last year, Wright told Women's Weekly the baby had come as a surprise for the couple, who had endured a rough 12 months.

"It's a bit of a surprise. Just when ... it looked as if we might get some quiet time, number three is going to be joining us in March," she said.

Waide and Wright separated temporarily, before reuniting last year.

"Charlie and I have been in difficult places at times. We got to a point where so much had happened - we'd moved five times in four years, had the children, I was no longer working full time and Charlie had started his own business, plus we were renovating the house," she told the magazine.
