Anika Moa swore she'd never get married again - then she met Natasha Utting.
The popular singer, 35, and the TV3 journalist, 40, confirm their engagement to Woman's Day, telling the magazine Moa proposed "on the couch in my favourite, black, lucky undies with the holes in them".
"Natasha was sitting there in her dressing gown with (our son) Soren, and I just got down on one knee and said, 'Babes, will you marry me?'," Moa tells the magazine.
Moa says she reluctant to get married again after her last marriage, to circus performer Azaria Universe, ended in 2013, inspiring Moa's break-up album Queen at the Table.
But she changed her mind after meeting Utting in 2013. She planned her proposal, bought a ring, then stressed about it or several weeks.
"I was trying to protect myself. It's hard thinking about having a failed marriage. I hate losing and I felt that I had lost. I don't wanna lose again ... I want to make sure that we are going to be together for a long, long time," Moa says.
For the record, Moa proposed with a hexagonal ring from Meadowlark, and the pair celebrated at one of their favourite restaurants.
