Kiwi pop star Lorde tweeted from backstage ahead of her first ever Saturday Night Live appearance.

She makes her debut this weekend, alongside Howard and Guy Lawrence of Disclosure and Sam Smith.

Having signed into SNL's Wifi backstage she sent a confident tweet to her 4 million followers.

Fans too were getting all worked up for the show, expressing their excitement for the musical line-up online.

The Royals hitmaker appeared in a photo with the British musicians, posted to Instagram by Sam Smith. In the caption Smith wrote: "Saturday Night Live rehearsals" along with a heart emoji.

Actress Elizabeth Banks will be hosting the episode with musical guests Disclosure, who will be performing with Lorde and Smith on the night. This will be the first time the Kiwi star has appeared on the late-night comedy show.

Lorde features on Disclosure's track Magnets while Smith sings on Omen from the electro-pop duo's latest album Caracal, released in September this year.

Disclosure is also set to perform in New Zealand early next year at Auckland's Echo Festival, at Vector Arena on January 11-12.

Hopefully Lorde will decide to make a surprise appearance with them for that performance too. However, no official announcement has been made.
