Demi Lovato insists she is "fine" after being rushed to hospital.
The 22-year-old actress who was taken to the Providence Tarzana Medical Center in California by a friend after suffering "significant trouble" breathing, has assured her fans she is on the mend.
The Skyscraper hitmaker is said to have been prescribed medication by a doctor after she was found to have a "flu-related" lung infection, and an insider told the publication she was also given an antibiotic known as Z-Pak. Her admittance meant she had to cancel a recording session for her new album with a "big producer"
She wrote on Twitter: "Thanks for the get well messages..
"I'm fine!! Nothing a little chicken soup can't fix!!"
News of her hospitalisation initially sparked concern among her fans, as the singer has often spoken out about the "dark period" in her life when she self-harmed, battled depression and eating disorders, and ended up in rehab.
Speaking in 2011, she said: "I basically had a nervous breakdown. I was really bad off. My parents and manager pulled me aside and said, 'You need to get some help.'
"It was an intervention. I wanted freedom from the inner demons. I wanted to start my life over.
"If you are going through that dark period, go to your family and closest friends.
"Don't put yourself in danger. It's very crucial that you get your feelings out - but don't ever inflict harm on your own body because your body is so sacred.
"I wish I could tell every young girl with an eating disorder, or who has harmed herself in any way, that she's worthy of life and that her life has meaning.
You can overcome and get through anything."
She also admitted in December that she had almost suffered a partial relapse last summer and credited her long-term boyfriend, Wilmer Valderrama, for encouraging her to seek help again.
She said at the time: "It's been difficult. I almost went back to rehab for my eating disorder last summer. I was obsessing over food and terrified of it at the same time. Wilmer noticed and called me out on it, which was a relief."
