Is Reese Witherspoon the new Bridget Jones?
According to New Idea it's looking likely that Oscar-winning actress Reese Witherspoon will star in the next Bridget Jones' Diary flick. The rumours were sparked after Renee Zellweger, who appeared in the first two Bridget Jones movies, stepped out looking completely unrecognisable from the iconic character. The Daily Star reports the role would be worth upwards of $41 million, meaning Zellweger has likely missed out on a pretty decent pay cheque. Meanwhile, Woman's Weekly says Witherspoon has been enjoying sinking her teeth into grittier roles. The star is best known for her role in Legally Blonde and confessed to the magazine that she "didn't feel the constraints of it until about three years ago when I realised, 'I'm not this.' I'm a complex person that has so many different aspects." So wouldn't Bridget Jones be a step back for the actress?
J-Law has no regrets
In an interview with New Idea, Jennifer Lawrence reveals that she has "no regrets" despite her split with Coldplay front man Chris Martin and the nude photo leak, which she told Vanity Fair is "not a scandal. It is a sex crime". The Hunger Games star tells the mag: "In just a few years, so many things happened. A lot of movies, awards and experiences beyond words." However Lawrence also reveals that maybe it's time to take a break from all the drama, saying: "Now my dream is to slack a little!" It's probably unlikely, with Woman's Day revealing that Chris Martin is gunning to get Lawrence back. An insider says the singer has been "going back and forwards between Jennifer and Gwyneth (Paltrow). But in the past few days, Chris and Jennifer have been insperable again". Make up your mind, guys.
Shavaughn Ruakere's free and single
Shavaughn Ruakere is a free woman. The ex-Shortland Street recently broke up with radio DJ Clarke Gayford (now dating Jacinda Adern) and revealed to Woman's Day that "post-break-up, you can go one of two ways - either feel sorry for yourself or look after yourself". It seems the Kiwi celeb has chosen the later, boasting that "the good thing about being single with no kids is being able to be flexible". "I'm not the kind of woman who's going to freak out about my age and getting a partner," the 36-year-old actress continued. "Men can smell desperation a mile off. When you're happy within yourself, people can see the energy you're putting out there. I believe in making your own luck." And best of luck to you Shavaughn!
Bruce's Jenner's mum speaks out
Bruce Jenner is rumoured to be wanting a gender reassignment after splitting from Keeping Up with the Kardashians star Kris Jenner. Esther Jenner, Bruce's mother, has shared her thoughts with New Idea about the star's new look, saying "I hate his hair! I tell him it's ugly. That it's ridiculous. I said: 'You know, Bruce, you just turned 65 and you're wearing your hair like you're a teenage rebel." However, Esther is very supportive of her son and is happy about the couple's split.
Bruce is ecstatically happy right now." Esther told New Idea, "I can hear it in his voice. He's spending a lot more time with his kids, I don't think he's a bit lonely. He seems like himself again." Kris Jenner seems to be on the rebound, getting cosy with Corey Gamble, who is 17 years her junior. A source told Woman's Day: "Kris feels like she has a new lease of life and says Corey has made her realise just how miserable she was in her marriage with Bruce. She's sick of living her life for kids. She sees Corey as a real shot at happiness and she won't let anyone try and sabotage that."
Are The Block's secrets really that sizzling?
Woman's Day promises "sizzling" behind-the-scenes secrets from the stars of the current season of The Block. Mostly, it's pretty hum-drum stuff: Jo's daily grooming ritual is laid bare ("it's the bare minimum"), Quinn saying she gets a funny feeling in her stomach when she thinks about this Friday's live auction ("and it's not just the baby moving"), and Alex and Corban admit they had "barely spent more than two days together in our entire marriage" before their 85-day stint on The Block. Perhaps the best goss comes from Maree & James, with James admitting he was given proposal advice from a woman in charge of replacing his watch battery. "She pointed out a few diamonds Maree might like," he laughs. If you're taking life advice from random shopkeepers, it might be time to rethink things.
